Breath- holding competition
Mur and Der joined in a breath- holding competition one day. A few days later, the police arrived at Der’s house and asked him a few questions about Mur’s death.
The police: We are very sorry to come here and have to wake you up very early this morning. This is about your friend, Mr Mur. He was found dead in his apartment early this morning. ( Der looks shocked). It is a very mysterious case and so, we are here to ask you a few questions just to help us find out who has killed your friend. Could you tell us when you last saw him and what you guys did on that day?
Der: Oh, nothing much. It was just we joined in this competition called “breath- holding” 5 days ago but I have not talked to him since then.
Police: Could you tell us more details ?
Der: Uh.. sure..In the game, I dared Mur to hold his breath as long as he could or else he would be called – Chicken! Ya know, he always hated being called Chicken so he accepted the dare. Then he had to sit down on a chair, with his mouth and nose covered with sticky tape, just in case he cheated during the game. His hands were tied up around the chair , too, ya know, to make sure he would not cheat with his hands free. After a while, he looked a bit tired. I guessed he was tired from sitting in one position for too long. At that time, my brother came and told me the band I loved had arrived around town so I left Mur there to go to the concert. Around midnight I passed by his house to see how he was doing. He seemed to be doing fine, seemed like he was sleeping. So I left him there to rest. The next day I came over, he was still sleeping. Such a lazy bum! I tried to wake him up, but he still slept…After a while, I was so pissed because it seemed as though he was totally ignored me. I told him to piss off and left. I have not come around to his house since then. So tell me, does this help?
Police: ?!?!

Well, for as long as we’re stuck here on earth (hopefully not forever!), we’ve got to be content with a puny 24 hours to use each day. I don’t know about you, but this just isn’t enough for me to accomplish everything I set out to do each day. I’m not about to go and build a rocket and migrate to Mars (whose days last 30 minutes longer), though I seriously would if I could. So, as you can guess, I’ve been pondering over some ways to make the most of the 24 hours I have. Read the rest of this entry »
